There are six kinds of quark, and physicists call them flavours: up, down, strange, charm, bottom and top. We put one on each face of a die. Pick the flavour you think will land, then roll.

The die has no memory. If strange came up three times in a row, the next roll is still one in six for strange and one in six for everything else.

About the names

Up and down are the light ones that make up protons and neutrons, so most of the world around you is built from them. Strange got its name in the 1950s because the particles carrying it lived oddly long. Charm was named half as a joke. Bottom and top were found last; top is the heaviest particle anyone has measured, about as heavy as a gold atom.
